Cephalonia Is the largest island in the Ionian Sea. Fiscardo, the northernmost harbor on Cephalonia, lying opposite and very close to Ithaca and surrounded by a thick cypress glade, has kept its traditional color.

Ithaca is an island known throughout the ages as the home o Ulysses. For years Homer’s hero wandered before he finally returned to his homeland and to his throne. KIONI and FRIKIES are tiny harbors on the northeast coast of the island. Enjoy the traditional taverns in these unspoilt typical Ionian villages where noisy nightlife is unheard of.

SPARTOHORI is the high town on the island of Meganissi and it can be easily seen from the north and the west. Once you are in the bay, the small harbor will be seen. Good shelter though you will have to anchor in considerable depths (15-25m). With NE winds (night!) the anchorage near the tavern is the best location in the bay. MEGANISSI is a beautiful non-spoilt island 12 nautical miles off the south-east coast of Lefkas. There are three small villages on the island: Spartohori, Katomeri and Vathy. According to historians, Meganissi has been settled since Homer’s times. Here one should visit the caves of Papanikolis and the Demon and make a point of swimming from its fabulous beaches.

SYVOTA Lefkas bay is sometimes difficult to make out the entrance. Once in, you can anchor at the east side just around the cape or – if you proceed through the dogleg – you can anchor anywhere in 3 – 8m. VASSILIKI’s port is located in the south-east of Lefkas deep in the large synonymous bay. In the west side of this bay – close to village Pondi – is a nice anchorage (4-8m depth). The actual port is located in the east of the bay and is very shallow. Just stay close to the breakwater. A natural spring favors this part of the island and runs through the south of Vassiliki. Here you can swim from the village’s long, flat beach or go to Cape Lefkata or Sappho’s Leap, the most southerly cape on the island. There once stood a shrine to Apollo. Here, too, they say that the poet Sappho took her life, flinging herself from the white cliffs, a hopeless victim of her unrequited love for Phaon.

Scorpios island is private (owned by the Onassis family) but as long as you don’t cross the high water mark you can anchor on both sides of a small sandy isthmus south of the island. The little isle left to Onassis island is Tsokari and has a visible reef.
